Getting ready to make some power

Getting ready to make some power

Import cars are often seen as slow, noisy and incapable but Skrig’s turbo Integra breaks the mold while staying in a very stealth, discreet package. This car will surprise you. Weighing in well under 3,000lb with driver it will scoot.

Final dyno #s: 236hp / 176tq (DynoJet SAE corrected) Dyno Sheet

Car was tuned to a very safe, streetable tune with HonData (always a joy to work with this software).

An interesting thing to look at in the dyno graphs is that we are commanding about 8psi boost at the controller but towards the end of the run the boost runs away – a phenomenon known as “boost creep”. The wastegate is simply too small to bypass enough air to maintain the commanded boost level and boost begins to climb.

We also took the time to calibrate the voltage drop on his wideband AFR’s analog output in HonData. The software was seeing the AFR 7/10s of a point richer than it really was. Having this properly calibrated allows the software to effectively use the lean protection and adaptive learning provided in the software.

Future plans for this car revolve around a larger turbo with external wastegate so that boost in the mid 20psi range can be run on the built motor that the car is already packing.
