1989 Ford Mustang

Andy runs an EXTREMELY clean Fox.

Andy has an EXTREMELY clean Fox.

Andy is a long time friend and really enjoys keeping nice cars. If you have ever seen his cars you know what I mean. He just traded for a very nice Fox with nitrous and in preparation for upping the shot he wanted to get it checked out and see how the existing tune stood.

What we found was that when run without the spray the car was lean to the point of misfiring/firing at all. At this level of leanness there is no detonation because there is just simply not enough fuel to do anything! This is identical to how Ford implements its rev limiter on its N/A and supercharged cars, by cutting fuel.

We were able to properly retune the car’s fuel curve and then dial in a bit more power. The car did quite well for a completely stock car, the only mod being a different CAI/mass air which is where the error in fueling came from.

Look for nitrous #s soon when his bottle heater arrives!

This car also does a sick burnout

UPDATE 1/17/09: Andy ran three N/A passes at the track, all 13.8x with 1.8 60ft. Congrats!
