1986 Ford Mustang GT
Patrick’s car came to us from Houston in need of a full engine rebuild after an incorrect bolt holding down the spider had an encounter with the cam.
TPS did a full engine rebuild, suspension work and tuning. This car has a mass air conversion which made tuning and power production a breeze over the old school speed density.
This particular car was also the subject of an experiment as we often times like to do at TPS. The 24lb injectors appeared to have some mileage on them so we did an injector flush on the dyno. Horsepower and torque went up and the air to fuel ratio richened slightly. This tells me that the spray pattern on the injectors improved resulting in better atomization of the incoming fuel. The results of the better atomization showed in both more power as well as (and more importantly) better drivability and fuel economy.
